We get it. Middle school can be awkward. Students are growing up fast and need a place where they can start to learn how God sees them. At River City 678 we believe that God calls us to community and fellowship with each other. We strive to know Him more and grow in our relationship with Him. During our Sunday night services, all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are invited to join us for fun, friends, laughing, learning, and worshipping God together.

FAQs
Are leaders and volunteers background checked?
Yes, the safety of your student is extremely important to River City Christian. One of the steps we take to ensure safety is requiring background checks on all volunteers working with students 18 and under.
Does my student have to be Christian to attend?
No. Jesus told us to go out and make disciples. It is our hope that we will be able to help your student’s faith develop no matter where they are in their own personal spiritual journey. We seek to create environments in which students will feel comfortable bringing their friends whether they consider themselves Christians yet or not.
What are you teaching my student?
We believe the Word of God is to be held with high regard. So, each leadership team within River City Student Ministries spends time carefully planning out series that will communicate the truths of scripture in a relevant way. You are always welcome to ask about the current series that is being taught.
What happens during small groups?
We believe participation in small groups is the most effective way for students to connect with each other and with adult leaders who sincerely care about them. Small groups discuss the lessons that were presented in the big group, develop relationships with one another through sharing life experiences, play games that build trust and community, and pray for one another.
Does my student need to check-in when they arrive?
When students arrive for youth group, we ask that they stop by the Check-In Station. Checking in helps us minister to each family in a number of ways. It allows us to follow up with your student, know who is on campus, and have the most up to date contact information for communication purposes.
What if my student has food or other allergies?
If your student has food allergies please let the pastor of that area know right away. At all events as well as trips off campus, we do our best to make sure each student’s dietary needs are safely met.
Leadership
Rob Phillips is River City Christian’s Pastor of Student Ministries. He originally joined the River City staff as the Middle School Pastor in July of 2020. Rob has been in Middle School Ministries since he began volunteering as a high school student in 2006. From that point on, his love for sharing the Gospel and ministering to middle school students and their families has continued to grow. He believes that middle school is a vital time in life and wants to do everything he can to help students grow in their relationship with Jesus. He also believes that Middle School Ministries should be fun! Rob graduated from William Jessup University in 2012 with a B.A. in Youth Ministry and a Minor in Bible and Theology. When he is not at church you can find Rob spending time with his wife Sarah, coaching high school football, or eating delicious food!
Leadership
Kay Perham has been working with Student Ministries at River City since July of 2021. While serving as the worship leader for the department for a year and a half, she discovered that God has given her a huge heart for middle schoolers and helping them grow in their relationship with the Lord. She now gets to lead the middle school programs as the 678 Director, which she considers to be her dream job! Kay grew up serving in many different areas of the church and graduated from William Jessup University with her B.A. in Christian Leadership and a minor in Bible and Theology. When not at the church, you can find Kay spending time with friends, hitting up local coffee shops, or rock climbing.
